Gefreiter-Funker Seaman Radio Operator German Kriegsmarine Navy during the World War II – Custom Printed Brick Block Figure

This minifigure represents a Gefreiter-Funker, a rank and specialty that translates to a Seaman Radio Operator, serving in the German Kriegsmarine (Navy) during the World War II era. His identity is explicitly confirmed by the text at the bottom of the image.

He is a generic character representing an enlisted sailor with a vital technical specialty. Radio operators (Funkers) were crucial for maintaining communication between ships, with naval command, and especially among the U-boat wolfpacks that operated in the Atlantic.

The items in the picture consist of the detailed minifigure and his rifle:

• The toy minifigure is wearing the dark blue service uniform of a Kriegsmarine sailor.
• His headgear is a sailor’s cap with a tally band that has the word “Kriegsmarine” printed on it.
• His rank of Gefreiter (equivalent to a Seaman or Private First Class) is shown by the chevron on his upper sleeve.
• His specialist role as a radio operator is indicated by the “lightning bolt” trade badge printed just below the rank chevron.
• His weapon accessory is a Karabiner 98k (Kar98k) rifle. This was the standard-issue bolt-action rifle for all branches of the German Wehrmacht and would have been used by sailors for training, guard duty, or as part of a landing party.
