This image displays a toy minifigure representing an officer of the German Allgemeine-SS (General SS) from the World War II era.
The figure is depicted in the iconic black M32 service uniform. This uniform was the standard ceremonial and service dress for the Allgemeine-SS, particularly prominent before the war. It consists of a black tunic, black trousers, and a black peaked cap (Schirmmütze).
His specific affiliation and insignia are clearly identified:
- Cap Insignia: The cap features the SS-style eagle and the Totenkopf (death’s head), the signature symbols of the organization.
- Collar Tabs: The tunic’s right collar tab clearly features the double sig runes ($\mathfrak{SS}$), the emblem of the SS.
- Armband: The left arm features the red, white, and black Swastika armband (Kampfbinde), which was worn by all members of the Nazi Party and its paramilitary branches.
- Uniform Details: He is also shown wearing the correct brown shirt and black tie under the tunic, along with a black leather belt and cross-strap.
Historical Background: The Allgemeine-SS (General SS) was the main branch of the SS, responsible for enforcing the racial and political policies of the Nazi state. This was distinct from the Waffen-SS, which was the organization’s combat arm. Men in these black uniforms were responsible for police duties, security (including running the concentration camps via the SS-Totenkopfverbände), and the administrative organization of the Holocaust (through the Reich Security Main Office, or RSHA). While the field-grey uniform became more common for all SS branches during the war, the black M32 uniform remains the most infamous and widely recognized symbol of the SS.
Rare item, nice to see people being realistic enough to make unpopular products (by some).
