Wehrmacht Field Kitchen Cook in Work Shirt (WWII) – Custom Printed Brick Block Figure

Character Identification: Wehrmacht Field Kitchen Cook (Feldkoch)

This highly detailed Custom Printed Brick Block Figure represents a Feldkoch (Field Cook) of the German Wehrmacht during World War II. Instead of standard combat gear, this figure is depicted in his active working/casual attire, accurately reflecting how logistics and supply troops dressed while operating mobile field kitchens near the front lines.

Specific Name and Visual Details

• Specific Name: Wehrmacht Field Kitchen Cook in Work Shirt (WWII)

• Headgear (The Chef’s Hat): The figure wears a classic, puffy white chef’s hat (toque), a standard hygienic issue for military culinary staff, easily distinguishing him from regular infantry.

• Facial Features: He sports a thick printed mustache and a focused expression, typical of a veteran cook managing rations for a hungry company.

• Upper Body (Shirt and Apron): * He has discarded the heavy wool field tunic for a more comfortable dark grey/black collared work shirt (Hemd) with rolled-up sleeves, essential for dealing with the intense heat of cooking fires.

  • Over the shirt, he wears a white butcher/cook’s apron (Schürze). The 360-degree UV printing on this apron is exceptional—it features highly realistic printed stains, dirt, and creases, perfectly capturing the messy, grueling reality of cooking in muddy or dusty field camps.

• Rear View (Behind): The back print clearly shows the white apron strings tied neatly behind his waist over the dark shirt.

• Lower Body and Footwear: The stained white apron extends down onto his dark grey field trousers. He wears standard black marching boots, a reminder that despite his culinary role, he is still a soldier in a war zone.

Historical Background

The field cook was arguably one of the most important men in any military unit during World War II, playing a massive role in maintaining troop morale and physical endurance.

• The “Gulaschkanone”: German field kitchens were large, horse-drawn or motorized trailers equipped with massive boiling kettles. Because the tall, folding smokestacks of these mobile kitchens resembled artillery barrels from a distance, German soldiers affectionately nicknamed them the Gulaschkanone (Goulash Cannon).

• Life of a Field Cook: Operating the Gulaschkanone was exhausting work. Cooks had to wake up hours before the rest of the troops to chop firewood, boil hundreds of liters of Ersatz (substitute) coffee, and prepare heavy stews (like Eintopf) or bake bread.

• Working Attire: In the heat of the kitchen, especially during the summer months or in the rear echelons, cooks would frequently strip off their heavy combat tunics (Feldbluse) and work in their undershirts or service shirts. The white aprons and hats were mandated for hygiene, but as this figure’s brilliant stain printing shows, they rarely stayed white for long in a combat theater.
