Item Description: This set includes two distinct, custom-crafted communication accessories designed specifically for brick block figures. These highly detailed miniature replicas represent a classic two-part military field radio system, molded in a standard dark grey casing with sculpted side latches.
-
Radio Transceiver Unit (Right in photo): This is the main communication block. It features a highly complex, detailed front control panel that includes multiple tuning knobs, circular gauges with red indicator needles, and a large central tuning dial. The lower section of the box is recessed, replicating the physical area where cables or protective transport covers would typically attach.
-
Power Supply / Accessory Unit (Left in photo): This matching companion unit serves as the power source. Instead of operational dials, its front panel displays intricate circuit and connection diagrams clearly printed on blue/green rectangular plates. The lower section features detailed connection ports, colored wire representations, and sockets, representing the interface where the heavy batteries and power cables would connect to the main radio.
(Note: The white blocks beneath the items are display stands and are not included as part of the accessories).
Historical Background: During World War II, reliable field communications were absolutely critical for coordinating troop movements and calling in artillery support. Due to the heavy weight of early vacuum-tube technology and large batteries, portable infantry radios—such as the famous German Tornisterfunkgerät (backpack radio) series—were often divided into two separate man-portable loads to distribute the weight. One soldier would carry the transmitter/receiver unit (containing the fragile dials and electronics), while another soldier carried the matching power supply unit (containing the heavy 12V batteries and accessory cables). Once a unit reached their destination, the two boxes would be set down side-by-side and linked via cables to establish a mobile command post. This custom set is an essential prop for building authentic WWII communication trenches, command center dioramas, or outfitting specialized signal troops (Nachrichtentruppen).
