Historical / Thematic Background

The Tang dynasty is associated with a rich literary and artistic culture as well as an extensive imperial state. Li Bai, also known as Li Bo, lived from 701 to 762 and became one of its most celebrated poets. His writings were collected and transmitted through later editions. The poet’s enduring cultural identity makes him a common subject for imaginative historical figures.

This series pairs a white-robed Li Bai with several guards whose costumes and equipment draw on a Tang-inspired setting. The black and red Buliangren figures, feathered helmets and contrasting armor create different silhouettes. These are stylized toy designs. A miniature’s curved blade, mace or decorative helmet should not be treated as proof that its complete outfit was issued by a particular documented unit.

The complete collection contains six figures with their pictured weapons, headgear and matching equipment. Each separate listing identifies one of those designs. An alternate uncovered face or equipment inset is a supporting view of the same supplied figure, rather than another complete person. The white-robed poet retains his literary identity despite carrying a toy sword; the guard designs provide the military theme. Together they allow a display to contrast courtly or literary clothing with armed roles, without assigning invented battles, ranks or personal biographies to the unnamed guards.
