Detailed Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background

Character Identification

A Roman-inspired eagle-standard bearer with a gold-colored lion-style headdress, mail-print uniform and decorated round shield.

Detailed Character Description

The dark-eyed, bearded figure wears a gold-colored lion-style hood over a gray helmet. Silver-colored mail and circular chest-medal artwork covers the torso, with red-trimmed clothing and a gold-detailed belt below. Its tall gold-colored standard is topped by an outspread eagle above decorative discs and a crescent-shaped element. The layout also shows a red cape, a gray-bladed short sword with a gold-colored grip and a blue round shield with green laurel, a red inner ring and central gray boss.

Historical / Thematic Background

The aquilifer was the bearer of a Roman legion’s eagle standard. The Latin aquila means eagle, and the emblem had a special place in Roman military identity. Standards served as highly visible symbols of a group, and the legionary eagle was associated with honor and collective loyalty. Carrying it was an important responsibility rather than an ordinary decorative task.

This figure gives that role a clear visual focus through its tall gold-colored pole and outspread eagle. Decorative discs and a crescent-shaped element make the standard more elaborate than the neighboring signifer’s red cloth banner. The gold-colored lion-style hood and decorated mail-print clothing belong to the supplied miniature design. They should not be taken as proof that every historical aquilifer wore this particular headdress or that this is a faithful copy of one surviving ancient uniform.

For a Roman camp or parade display, the eagle standard can provide a focal point beside the signifer and horn player. The round shield, short sword and red cape complete the photographed equipment package. The eagle-bearing configuration is the defining feature of this product; it is distinct from the previously offered lion-hood horn bearer. The model represents an anonymous Roman-inspired role without assigning a historical individual, specific campaign or exact legionary equipment issue.
