Detailed Character Description

(Utilizing precise 360-degree UV printing, this figure meticulously captures the intellectual yet resolute appearance and field equipment of a front-line Chinese Officer operating in the late 1930s.)

• Head & Face: The figure features a light nougat face print characterized by a scholarly but determined expression, famously highlighted by sharply printed round wire-rimmed spectacles. A crisp white shirt collar is visible beneath his tunic.

• Torso & Officer Uniform: Unlike the blue-grey uniforms of other units, Yao Ziqing is outfitted in a tailored olive-green officer’s tunic, featuring printed gold buttons and pocket details. The collar is decorated with bright red collar tabs with gold insignia, denoting his specific officer rank. Above his left breast pocket is a printed red and white identification name tag, standard for NRA personnel. Additional military patches are printed on the upper sleeves.

• Tactical Leather Gear: Worn tightly over the tunic is a classic brown leather Sam Browne belt. The belt features a distinctive cross strap that runs over his right shoulder down to the left hip, securing a small, black leather pistol holster squarely on his chest/stomach area.

• Back View: The reverse side highlights the tailored stitching of the green officer’s tunic, the seamless continuation of the brown leather cross strap, and a highly detailed brown leather map or dispatch case slung over his left hip.

• Legs & Footwear: The lower body features matching olive-green trousers. The lower legs are wrapped tightly in highly detailed dark grey puttees (leg wraps), transitioning neatly into printed black shoes at the base.

Historical Background

Yao Ziqing (1909–1937) was a battalion commander in the 98th Division of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army. He is immortalized in Chinese military history for his heroic command during the incredibly brutal Battle of Baoshan (part of the larger Battle of Shanghai) in September 1937. Tasked with defending the strategic coastal town of Baoshan against a massive amphibious assault by the Imperial Japanese Army, Yao and his battalion of roughly 600 men faced overwhelming naval artillery, aerial bombardment, and armored attacks. Despite being completely surrounded and outgunned, Yao Ziqing famously led his men in fierce, street-to-street combat, refusing to surrender. He and his entire battalion fought to the last man, dying in the defense of the city. His scholarly appearance (often noted by his round glasses) combined with his unwavering battlefield courage made him a lasting symbol of Chinese resistance during World War II.
