Detailed Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background
Character Identification
An unnamed squad-leader design from the Shanxi–Suiyuan (Jinsui) Army theme, distinguished by its front satchel and belt-pouch artwork.
Detailed Character Description
The blue tunic has red collar tabs with yellow chevron-like marks, gold-colored buttons, a printed chest panel and crossing shoulder-strap artwork. Brown ammunition-pouch and satchel designs run across the front of the torso, including a rectangular flap and pale buckle detail. Pale gray-purple leg-wrap artwork and black footwear contrast with the blue trousers. The face has a serious expression, and the separate blue cap has two front buttons.
Includes one complete Satchel Squad Leader figure and one pictured blue two-button cap. The satchel, pouches, straps and leg wraps are printed details; no loose bag or weapon is included.
Historical / Thematic Background
The squad-leader theme places this figure at the small-unit level within the Shanxi–Suiyuan Army collection. The wider setting is the Chinese war against Japan, when regional armies formed part of the forces defending Shanxi. The miniature is a representative role design rather than a documented member of a particular formation.
The front satchel and repeated belt-pouch artwork make this version easy to distinguish from the diagonal chest-pouch squad leader. Pale wrap patterns on the lower legs create a practical field-uniform appearance beneath the blue tunic. Red collar tabs, shoulder-strap printing and a serious face give the character a coherent visual identity without requiring an exact rank to be read from the small insignia artwork.
The figure can anchor a section of soldiers in a roadside briefing, a marching scene or a small defensive position built from bricks. Its equipment is represented by the torso printing, so the body remains compact when positioned among other figures. Displaying it alongside the officers and military policeman shows the collection’s variety of roles while retaining the shared blue clothing and matching two-button caps.
