Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background

Character Identification This custom building block figure represents a late-war World War II German Army (Heer) Designated Marksman / Rifleman equipped with semi-automatic firepower and specialized marsh camouflage.

Detailed Character Description (This custom figure features 360-degree UV printing to recreate the exact field equipment and uniform worn by German frontline troops in 1943–1945.)

• Head & Facial Details: The figure is printed with a stern, battle-weary face featuring realistic reddish beard stubble and furrowed eyebrows, conveying the grit of a veteran soldier enduring extended combat.

• Torso (Front) & Camouflage: He wears the famous Sumpfmuster (Marsh/Swamp) camouflage smock, printed with blurred tan, reddish-brown, and green shapes over a lace-up chest closure. Over the smock, black leather Y-strap suspenders support a combat belt holding specialized black leather G43 magazine pouches on his left side and brown utility pouches on his right. Two Model 24 stick grenades (Stielhandgranaten) are tucked directly into his belt for quick access in close-quarters skirmishes.

• Torso (Back) & Field Gear: The reverse view details the continuation of the camo smock and harness straps. His waist belt is packed with standard field gear: a green canvas bread bag (Brotbeutel), a felt-covered canteen (Feldflasche), a leather-sheathed entrenching tool (spade), and a ribbed cylindrical gas mask canister.

• Legs & Footwear: The leg blocks continue in field grey (Feldgrau) trousers, ending in late-war canvas gaiters (Gamaschen) worn over brown ankle boots. The bottom of the boots features a subtle printed mud texture.

Historical Background Introduced in 1943, Sumpfmuster (Marsh/Swamp camouflage) was a refinement of the earlier sharp-edged Splintermuster. Designed with softer, blurred borders, it offered superior concealment in muddy marshes, riverbanks, and autumn forests across Europe and the Eastern Front.

The figure’s ammunition pouches indicate he is armed with the Gewehr 43 (G43), a 10-round semi-automatic rifle introduced to counter superior Allied semi-automatic weaponry like the American M1 Garand and Soviet SVT-40. Due to limited production, G43s were prioritized for squad leaders, assault troops, and designated marksmen. Combined with late-war canvas gaiters (issued to replace leather jackboots due to raw material shortages), this setup perfectly captures a German soldier during the desperate defensive campaigns of 1944–1945.
