This was a complex, multi-layered camouflage featuring irregular splotches of green, tan, and rust-brown under a carbon-black “branch” pattern on a light background. Over his uniform, the figure wears printed black leather infantry webbing with ammunition pouches.

Historical Background: The Leibermuster M45 was the most advanced camouflage pattern developed by Germany during World War II. It was a radical design intended to become the new standard camouflage for the entire German armed forces (both the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS), replacing all other patterns. Scientifically developed, it was the first camouflage in history designed to also provide concealment against early active-infrared night vision devices. However, due to the collapse of the German war effort, the pattern was only produced in very limited quantities and saw extremely limited issue to frontline troops in the final months of the war in 1945, mostly on the Eastern Front. This figure represents one of the very few soldiers to have worn what was the pinnacle of WWII camouflage technology.
