Detailed Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background
Character Identification
This custom printed brick block figure depicts a generic Luftwaffe ground soldier from the World War II Hermann Göring Division theme. The blue-gray visor cap, matching uniform and prominent printed field pouches distinguish this design from the other soldiers in the collection.
Detailed Character Description
- Headgear & Face: A blue-gray peaked visor cap has a black band and glossy black peak, with silver-colored trim visible across the front. The face has dark eyes, a closed mouth and small cheek lines.
- Torso & Uniform: The blue-gray tunic shows collar and shoulder details, seams and a small red-and-white diagonal accent. A narrow yellow printed band appears near one cuff.
- Printed Equipment: Dark straps and a horizontal row of black pouch-like panels cover the chest. Reddish-brown storage pouches and a dark green holster-like panel sit beside the printed waist belt, adding contrasting colors and a densely equipped appearance to the front design.
- Legs & Footwear: Matching trousers have pocket, crease and seam printing. Dark lower legs and boots carry small tan and brown weathering marks.
- Included Headgear: The blue-gray visor cap shown with this figure is included in the full figure price.
Historical / Thematic Background
The Hermann Göring formation was part of the Luftwaffe, Nazi Germany’s air force, but its soldiers also fought on the ground. The Luftwaffe maintained its own ground-combat and support formations, so an air-force association did not mean that every member was a pilot. This distinction is central to the figure’s combination of blue-gray uniform coloring and printed field equipment.
The formation developed from a regiment into a brigade and then a division during 1942. Elements fought in North Africa in 1943, and a rebuilt armored division followed that summer. Its history therefore spans changes in organization as well as changes in theater. The blue-gray uniform and field-pouch pattern connect this miniature with the formation’s ground-force theme.
Within a historical brick display, the contrast between the structured visor cap and the crowded pouch printing gives this soldier a different silhouette from the softer field-cap designs. It can serve as a uniform-and-equipment study or as an unnamed character in a World War II ground-force scene. The cap trim and contrasting pouch colors also make useful points of comparison with the other three collection members.
