Detailed Character Description
(This highly detailed building block figure uses premium 360-degree UV printing to faithfully recreate a heavily burdened American frontline machine gun crewman serving in the European Theater of Operations.)
-
Headgear & Facial Printing:
-
The figure is equipped with the standard-issue dark olive-drab M1 steel helmet.
-
The face print captures a focused, battle-weary expression with subtle facial scarring or dirt marks. A printed helmet chinstrap rests securely across the chin, indicating readiness for active combat.
-
-
Torso & Tactical Webbing:
-
The torso depicts a standard khaki M41 field jacket layered over a darker undershirt.
-
The standout feature of this figure is the heavy crisscrossing belts of .30 caliber machine gun ammunition draped over both shoulders and across the chest. This was a historically accurate and practical way for machine gunners and ammo bearers to carry massive amounts of heavy brass rounds into a firefight.
-
At the waist, a large canvas utility/ammunition pouch clearly stamped with “U.S.” is printed on the left hip, designed to hold spare machine gun parts, tools, or extra boxed ammunition.
-
-
Sleeves & Insignia:
-
The left shoulder bears a crisp print of the famous green diamond patch with ivy leaves, the insignia of the 4th Infantry Division.
-
Just below the patch, dark printed rank chevrons identify this soldier as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), likely a Sergeant or Corporal leading a weapons team.
-
-
Legs & Footwear:
-
The leg blocks continue the khaki uniform with printed fabric seams, pocket outlines, and visible combat wear, including a stitched tear on the right thigh.
-
The lower legs accurately depict standard-issue canvas leggings (gaiters) worn tightly over brown leather combat boots with dark reddish-brown textured bases.

Historical Background
The 4th Infantry Division, famously known as the “Ivy Division”, was one of the premier American combat units of World War II. They are most famous for being the spearhead seaborne assault force that waded ashore at Utah Beach during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944.
In the US Army, the Browning M1919A4 (.30 caliber medium machine gun) and the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) were the absolute backbones of infantry firepower. Operating these weapons required a dedicated team. Because these automatic weapons consumed ammunition at a voracious rate, the gunner, assistant gunner, and designated ammo bearers had to carry staggering amounts of heavy ammunition belts. Draping these brass belts directly across their shoulders became an iconic and practical practice, allowing the soldiers to keep their hands free to carry the weapon tripod, spare barrels, or their own personal rifles.
Following the successful landings in Normandy, the 4th Infantry Division relied heavily on their Browning machine gunners to provide suppressive fire through the deadly hedgerows of France, the brutal urban combat during the liberation of Paris, and the freezing, heavily forested nightmare of the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest.
