Detailed Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background
Character Identification
Chiang Kai-shek in the series’ later Taiwan-period military-uniform portrayal.
Detailed Character Description
The figure wears a khaki peaked cap with a yellow band and blue-and-white sun-style badge. Its khaki jacket has dark outlined lapels and pockets, a printed waist belt, collar insignia and blue-and-white breast decoration. Pale eyebrow and moustache details give the face an older appearance. White hands, matching trousers and black footwear distinguish it from the earlier-period variants. The gallery image provides rear and side details of the same figure.
Historical / Thematic Background
The Republic of China central government relocated to Taipei in December 1949 after the Nationalists’ military defeat on the mainland. Chiang Kai-shek resumed the presidency in Taipei in March 1950. His later career was therefore closely connected with Taiwan and the changing strategic setting of the Cold War, as well as with the continuing rivalry across the Taiwan Strait.
The Korean War changed the regional security situation in 1950, and the United States sent the Seventh Fleet to the Taiwan Strait. During the following years, defense planning, military assistance and diplomatic relationships became central features of the ROC government’s position. Chiang remained a dominant political and military figure until his death in 1975.
This miniature presents the later-period theme through a khaki uniform, gold-toned cap band, pale facial details and white hands. Its formal appearance suits a headquarters, ceremonial or historical leadership display. The contrast with the series’ olive and dark green uniforms makes the three versions useful for comparing periods of the same person’s career; the printed insignia remain stylized miniature details.
