Detailed Character Identification, Description, and Historical Background
Character Identification
An unnamed Chinese Republican-era pistol-soldier character, corresponding to the supplier’s “box cannon” pistol-role option. The uniform is presented as a broad National Revolutionary Army interpretation without a verified numbered division.
Detailed Character Description
The olive tunic has pointed collar artwork, crossing dark brown and pale straps, small buckle details and a long row of light khaki ammunition-pouch print. The face combines raised brows, small cheek marks and a dark chinstrap with a distinctive extended side-fastening design. Olive shorts end above flesh-colored knee bands and tightly wrapped lower legs. Dark shoes show contrasting red-and-white worn-looking toe details. The sleeve carries the same dark shield-like marking used across the group. One loose green helmet is pictured beside the complete figure.
Includes one complete printed brick figure and one loose green helmet. The straps, pouches and other flat equipment details are printed on the figure. No loose firearm or scenery is included.
Historical / Thematic Background
The National Government’s army uniform regulations promulgated in January 1936 describe identification labels showing a soldier’s affiliation, rank, duty and name. Their illustrated appendix includes divided rectangular chest-label layouts with a narrow rank strip. The small label printed on this toy’s tunic follows that period visual language, supporting its Chinese Republican-era military theme.
A documented photograph of a Nationalist soldier in Shanghai in 1937 also shows the German-style M1935 steel helmet used by Chinese troops. The separate green toy helmet, field tunic and wrapped lower legs fit that wider 1930s–1940s setting. These comparisons support a uniform-theme interpretation; the miniature does not establish a particular battlefield, issue year or named soldier.
The pale pouch row and layered crossed straps distinguish this design from its three companions. The supplier’s pistol-role wording describes the character’s theme; a separate pistol is not part of the photographed contents.
The supplier calls this series “2D,” but a precise division or other numbered unit has not been independently established. The sleeve emblem is retained as part of the original print without expanding that label into a historical unit claim. The figure suits a Chinese Republican-era infantry display, where its actual uniform, expression and printed carrying equipment can be compared with the other designs.
