Historical Background

The Kornilov Shock Regiment was one of the most elite and famous volunteer units of the White Army during the Russian Civil War. Named after General Lavr Kornilov, the unit adopted the skull and crossbones (Totenkopf) as their primary insignia to symbolize their absolute refusal to surrender to the Red Army. The combination of French-supplied Adrian helmets, traditional khaki tunics, and distinctive colored breeches was a hallmark of the well-equipped but continuously undersupplied White Army officer corps.

2. Kornilov Shock Regiment Infantryman (Right Figure)

The figure is easily recognizable by the matching skull and crossbones helmet, the khaki gymnastiorka tunic with red and black collar tabs, and his field-ready leg puttees.

Historical Background

Serving as the vanguard for the White Army in southern Russia, the Kornilov infantrymen were thrust into the most brutal engagements of the Russian Civil War. The uniform of the Kornilov infantryman reflects the desperate logistical reality of the era: a combination of traditional Russian Imperial tunics and foreign-supplied equipment, most notably the French Adrian helmets, which were heavily relied upon by White forces due to massive domestic manufacturing shortages following the collapse of the Russian Empire.
