Character Identification

A four-figure Roman-inspired collection bringing together a centurion, tesserarius, praetorian-themed character and legionary.

Detailed Character Description

The centurion carries a sword and floral red-and-green oval shield beneath a red-crested helmet. The tesserarius has a plumed gray helmet, ball-topped staff and blue rectangular shield. The purple-clad praetorian-themed figure has a fasces and blue-and-gold oval shield, with a separate short bladed weapon shown in its equipment layout. The bearded legionary has an unplumed gray helmet, pilum-style javelin and red-and-gold rectangular shield, plus a separate short sword. Each member retains its own pictured clothing, belt equipment, armor where shown and cape or cloth parts.

Historical / Thematic Background

This collection explores four different roles and themes within the Roman military world. The centurion provides a command figure, the tesserarius introduces watchword and guard duties, and the legionary represents infantry service. The praetorian-themed character adds an imperial-guard reference. Together they support a camp, fort or ceremonial arrangement rather than a single repeated soldier design.

Distinctive equipment makes each member recognizable. A red crest and floral shield identify the centurion; white plumes, a staff and blue rectangular shield distinguish the tesserarius. Purple clothing and an oval blue-and-gold shield give the praetorian-themed figure a ceremonial appearance. The legionary’s bearded face, unplumed helmet, javelin and red rectangular shield supply a different infantry presentation. Separate individual equipment layouts show additional short weapons and parts that are less visible in the assembled group photograph.

The models combine Roman-inspired uniforms, armor and symbols without claiming to reconstruct one documented unit or moment. In particular, the fasces is historically associated with lictors serving magistrates and is not evidence of a standard praetorian weapon. The four-figure group can therefore be appreciated as a varied historical-themed display while keeping the distinction between the supplied toy designs and authenticated ancient equipment. It contains exactly the four companion designs offered individually, with their pictured equipment included.
